The role you are applying for will be part of the automotive business. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development of testing methodology for tribology and lubrication
- Guide the surface topography optimization for life, friction and wear
- Support coating, steel and lubricant expert in testing definition
- Direct the development of electrical excitation in the mechanical rolling contact and define the testing equipment & methodology
- Study and understanding of new failure mode (such as White Etching Cracks)
- Train the engineering community on surface technology and testing
- Support problem solving groups for failure identification, reproduction and find effective solutions
- Optimize tribological test methods and enrich the tribological know-how, suitable for lubrication and surface topography
- Owner of the tribology and surface technology roadmap in alignment with numerical tribology roadmap
- Coordinate external collaboration on advanced surface testing
Requirements
- MSc in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Physics, tribology or similar;
- A broad and advanced knowledge specifically on grease lubrication and various modeling techniques
- An understanding of manufacturing processes and their impact on surface topography
- Experience in lubricant selection for bearings, specifications and tribology; high interests to guide & perform experimental research in support of modeling.
- Demonstrated ability to drive full value chain from customers technology needs to R&D and vice versa
- Practical experience of (in-house) code development (Python, Matlab, etc.) for test data processing
- Ability to lead and mentor junior colleagues
- Advanced communication skills and fluent in English.
This position will be located in Gothenburg (Sweden), on local contract.
One of the other major SKF Automotive sites in EMEA, such as Airasca (Italy), Schweinfurt (Germany) or Saint-Cyr-sur-Loire (France) could also be considered.
You will report to the Technology Office Manager.
